THE WEDDING PLANNER
Romantic Comedy
What happens when you finally meet Mr. Perfect?

"I can't believe I'm getting married to the most beautiful woman in the world."

As a young girl Maria always played wedding games with her dolls. As a grown up she uses real live people to play at wedding games. Maria Fiore played by Jennifer Lopez is now an adult with an adult job as THE WEDDING PLANNER. She is a highly successful and very efficient wedding planner who knows just what to do and what to say to give her clients the smoothest wedding ceremony possible.

"She must lead such romantic life.
While everyone thinks she leads a romantic and ideal life she is actually an average quiet person who just goes home, cleans and lounges around. She spends time with her father Salvatore Fiore (Alex Rocco) and his friends in a retirement home. Her father is constantly trying to marry her off, but to no avail. She has no prince charming in her life until one fateful day when a man comes out of nowhere to save her from being killed. She is instantly smitten with him and invites him out to a movie and dance in the park. She thinks she is in love with Dr. Steve Edison played by Matthew McConaughey.

"You saved me...my shoe...my life."
Penny (Judy Greer) is happy that her friend has finally found someone who she could care about. Everything is great until she discovers that Dr. Steve is engaged to Fran Donnelly (Bridgette Wilson) one of her most important and high profile clients. Frans parents (Joanna Gleason and Charles Kimbrough) are nouveau riche and want to best for their daughter and of course that means it will be very good for Maria. She realizes she can not have him and continues on with her job. As fate would have it, after all this is a romantic comedy, they are constantly thrown together or left alone to plan the wedding.

"What I'm thinking involves a pair of pliers and a machete."
Unknown to Maria, her father Salvatore has brought over a childhood friend of his daughter's from Italy. Massimo played by Justin Chambers is in love with her and constantly hounds Maria to marry him. She refuses over and over.

"Why do you want to marry me?"
Eventually everyone realizes what they must do after lots of whining and crying. I liked the movie as it is a very nice romantic comedy. There is nothing deep or complex about the story or plot so it has an overall pleasantness to the entire thing. What is disturbing is that darn Massimo who sounds like a caricature of an Italian. Equally disturbing is the idea that the ex-Flygirl, Jennifer Lopez couldn't get a date. That is really stretching it. The idea of trying to make us wonder who she would end up with is ludicrous as well. The chemistry between the two leads is there and to believe they would not get together would be a silly thought.

THE WEDDING PLANNER is an excellent film for you to see with your date. Sit back relax, enjoy your snacks and just have fun watching all the funny bits in this movie because there are alot of them. It is just plain fun and I think you'll get your monies worth.

"I want to dance with you."
